1. Vama Designs – San Jose
Vama Designs is a luxury San Jose-based bridalwear provider who has been a leading name in the industry for many years. Over the years, Vama Designs has been featured and honored in several bridal expos, fashion shows, and magazines in the Bay Area and beyond. Their collections mainly feature lehengas and Saris, but they also have pant sets, ghararas, gowns, and bridal party outfits. Our clients have had great experiences with purchasing from Vama in person, and buying their ready-to-ship pieces online.
2. Sari Palace – Berkeley
A reputed favorite established in 1987, Sari Palace has two locations – one in Los Angeles in the famed Artesia area, and another that our clients frequent in Berkeley. Sari Palace mostly carries off the rack pieces, but their options are high quality and ornate. They offer clients a bridal consult, and are in the process of creating a custom outfit design process.
3. Evotique – Fremont
Evotique is a relatively new brand, founded by UC Davis graduates Avneet and Navjeet and based in Fremont. In recent years, the brand has exploded in popularity due to their reputation for creating beautiful, high-quality custom outfits (and their beautiful display of their work on their social media pages!). Evotique is an excellent option for clients who have reference photos or ideas about what they’d like to create that they want a designer to bring to life. Evotique also designs and creates wedding accessories, from the couple’s wedding jewelry to choora, headwear, and more.
4. Wellgroomed Inc – Newark
WellGroomed Inc is a Canadian South Asian fashion brand, with established boutiques in Toronto, and a newly established boutique in Newark, CA. They are particularly popular amongst our Punjabi clients, but they are able to create designs that reflect many different South Asian styles. WellGroomed is considered a luxury provider, and they are known for their robust custom design process. Their ready-to-wear collections feature gowns, lachas, anarkalis, lehengas, sherwanis, and achkans, which make them a great option for multiple events with varying formality.
5. B Anu Designs – Fremont
B Anu Designs is based in Fremont, CA and is one of the more mainstream and well-known providers on our list. Anu is also a very innovative designer: when the pandemic started, she was one of the first providers who was able to begin creating custom, matching masks for her clients’ bridal outfits. Our brides have worked with Anu to create their bridal looks, and we’ve heard nothing but great things.
6. The Grand Trunk – Pleasanton
The Grand Trunk has a unique place in the South Asian fashion space. Based in Pleasanton, CA, the shop is an official US retailer for all the most popular designers in India – Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra, Anita Dhongre, Anamika Khanna, and many more. Founder Komal maintains a stock of ready-to-wear pieces in the Bay Area, and is also able to liaise with the brands if clients would like a more customized design. If designer pieces are in the plans for your wedding, The Grand Trunk is a wonderful option.
7. Kalra Kreations – San Jose
San Jose based Kalra Kreations has several options that are appropriate for Mehndi night, bridesmaids, and more. Offering both ready-to-ship options and custom designs, Kalra Kreations is a great option for Bay Area based couples looking for hand-embroidered pieces they can design close to home. While Kalra Kreations does not have a website, much of their portfolio is available on their Instagram page, and they can be contacted via email.
8. Swati Couture – Palo Alto
Swati Couture has dressed several of our clients for their ceremonies, receptions, and more. Based in Palo Alto, Swati Couture is both affordable and well-known for her quality designs. Most notably, one of our South Asian clients who had a fusion, interfaith wedding wanted a white, shimmering and embroidered lehenga for her reception to reflect both cultures after her White Dress ceremony. Swati Couture’s design accomplished exactly that!
9. The Zari House – Bay Area
The Zari house is another affordable option based in the Bay Area that ships globally. Their portfolio boasts modern cuts and shapes, such as cropped ankle-length pants in their pantsuits, and asymmetrical hems on some of their salwar tops. The Zari house offers formal, semi-formal, and bridal styles, and every piece is made to order – which leaves room for more customization options.
10. Royal Fabrics – Union City
Royal Fabrics is based in Union City, and carries both outfits and jewelry. Most notably, however, they provide excellent tailoring services. When clients receive outfits that were ordered several months in advance, they may find that their measurements have changed since the pieces were purchased. Having a reliable local tailor who is familiar with South Asian clothing is undeniably important for last-minute alterations in these situations.
11. Chiffon and Spice – San Francisco
Chiffon and Spice is a San Francisco based brand known for their whimsical and pretty designs. A self-described East-meets-West, simple-yet-edgy brand, their original designs are unique and colorful, and could be the perfect choice for pre-wedding events.
12. Rani Collections – Yuba City
Well known amongst our clients, Rani Collections is a bit of a drive out of the Bay Area to Yuba City. While they don’t have a website, they do have a showroom with limited hours for clients to stop in and check out their available designs. From pantsuits to gowns and lehengas, they carry outfits appropriate for occasions ranging from pre-wedding events to formal receptions. For clients located closer to the Sacramento Area, this could be a great alternative to driving into the Bay.
13. Natasha Fashion House – Fremont
Natasha Fashion House is located in Fremont and carries a wide range of designs. Classic designs are mixed with wide tiered sleeves, scalloped hems, off-shoulder blouses, and other contemporary cuts for modern and fashion-forward bridal and pre-event wear.
14. The Culture Room by Nisha – Bay Area
The Culture Room describes themselves as taking a body positive, self-love approach to South Asian fashion. Their Indowestern-inspired pieces include one-shoulder Kaftans, ruffle-sleeve blouses, high-low hemlines, and shimmering gowns. Their pieces are another great option for pre-wedding events.
